At the end of February 2025, Dr. Darko Glujić from the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Maritime Studies, visited the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, at the LASIM laboratory. During his visit, Dr. Glujić presented ongoing research on the development of a mixed reality-based firefighting training scenario and engaged in a professional exchange with the local research team. The goal was to share results, gather expert insights, and discuss technical and methodological approaches.

The visit included a presentation of the core objectives, methodology, and initial results of the project, with a special emphasis on integrating CFD fire simulation, conducted using Smartfire software, into immersive training environments, namely Unreal Engine 5. Constructive discussions focused on simulation accuracy, user interaction in VR systems, and sensor integration strategies.

Both teams shared experiences in applying VR and MR technologies for training and education, particularly in engineering and safety-related fields. Valuable feedback was provided regarding model refinement, technical performance, and broader applicability. The meeting also laid the groundwork for future collaboration and joint initiatives.

The visit offered meaningful input that will significantly contribute to the further development of the MR training system, particularly in enhancing simulation realism and user experience. The exchange of ideas helped to validate the project’s current direction and provided new perspectives for its future development.
