The summer research camp for students “Research and drive the future” took place on the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Ljubljana in the first week of July, where, under the mentorship of researchers, high school students from 1st to 3rd year tried out at various workshops, enriched with the program of diverse lectures on the topic of the most current research.
Among the various interesting topics, prepared to explore, such as Programming of collaborative robots for use in manufacturing processes, Autonomous robotic rovers, Measurements of the length and thickness of microjets from different liquids (water, alcohol, oil), 3D printed Smart devices, Analysis of the aerodynamic properties of the aircraft, was also one of the Inno2mare Pilot projects, which was one of the program topics of Robotized production and Smart and modular factories. Students got to know how robots work and program them; both conventional and collaborative robots and autonomously guided vehicles (AGVs). In addition to robots and AGVs, we also have transport modules of the factory with included functions of stationary vision, sensors, etc. They were able to work on the equipment according to the “hands-on” principle and learn about the Smart Factory demonstration center and its operation. With the use of virtual reality (VR) students step in to the world of Smart factories and could see production environment and its functionalities. They also had opportunity to see the concept of the Digital twin, which aggregates data from a factory, including energy usage of production lines, energy production within the factory, which helps us with simulations to gather final results and based on them choose the best for optimization of the production process in maritime industry.
