In May 2024, the Maritime Center of Excellence (MCoE) actively participated in the prestigious Future Tense conference held in Zagreb. This event provided a platform for MCoE to showcase its cutting-edge research and development projects, which are at the forefront of innovation in the maritime industry.
During the conference, MCoE presented a series of projects, each meticulously designed to address various aspects of the complexities associated with autonomous shipping. These projects highlighted the commitment to advancing maritime technology and improving the safety and efficiency of maritime operations.
One of the standout devices featured in the presentation was the Sensor Box, a ground-breaking development under the INNO2MARE project. The Sensor Box is an advanced system focused on sensor fusion and automated data collection, playing a crucial role in the enhancement of autonomous navigation systems.
The Sensor Box is engineered to gather comprehensive data from a multitude of sensors, which is then utilized to validate algorithms for sea state evaluation and small object recognition. This data is indispensable for refining the accuracy and reliability of autonomous navigation systems, ensuring that maritime operations are not only safer but also more efficient.
By leveraging the Sensor Box, MCoE aims to push the boundaries of what is possible in autonomous shipping, paving the way for a future where maritime operations are seamlessly integrated with advanced technological solutions. The insights gained from this project are expected to contribute significantly to the development of robust autonomous navigation systems, ultimately transforming the maritime industry.
